I came late to the Land of Lincoln

I didn't grow up here in Illinois, so I didn't start learning about Abraham Lincoln in nursery school. But I have some expertise; I make my morning coffee not fifty feet from "The Lincoln Desk," which is displayed in the museum next door. Abraham Lincoln sat at it. Once. Maybe.
That seemed like enough expertise for me to write a column about Lincoln's sense of humor for the Rock Island Argus. You work with what you've got.

It looks like my brother Donald in Virginia has overshadowed me, though. He spent Lincoln's Birthday dressed as the guest of honor. Believe me: we see lots of Lincolns in Illinois, and Don's version is more convincing than any I've seen here.
